FlatoutATC 2.8 — Release Notes

Released 2026-06-25 (build 60)

Two new airports, live Atlanta traffic, a brand-new way to learn the ropes, and a redesigned home screen to pull it all together.

✈️ New Airports

Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷

Work Galeão (GIG) and Santos Dumont (SDU) together across Guanabara Bay — two very different fields sharing one piece of sky, flown with real Brazilian SIDs and STARs. Santos Dumont's short bayside runway against the downtown skyline is a proper test of sequencing.

Iceland 🇮🇸

Keflavík (KEF) and Reykjavík (RKV) on the Faxaflói bay, flown with real Icelandic procedures and North Atlantic terrain. A windswept, wide-open contrast to the dense metro maps.

📡 Live Traffic — Atlanta joins the network

Atlanta joins New York and London as a live, real-time ADS-B region — work the world's busiest airport with the actual aircraft that are flying right now.

And live shifts finally have a finish line: set a goal for the number of aircraft you want to work, and reaching it ends the shift with a rating and a place on the leaderboard. (New York and London get this too.)

🎓 New to ATC? Start here

A brand-new guided tutorial walks you through the job one lesson at a time — your first arrival, a helicopter to its pad, a busier piece of airspace, and your first emergency — with a coach prompt at each step and a Skip whenever you want it.

🎮 Gameplay

  • Fly over the weather. Storms now build in stages with a grace window instead of an instant loss — climb over the tops or route around the edges.
  • Radio failures (7600). Some aircraft go silent and stop taking commands. Keep the rest of your traffic clear and work around them until they recover.
  • Lower helicopter approaches. Helicopters can now descend below 1,000 feet for low work near the pads.

🗺️ A Redesigned Home Screen

The world-map picker is replaced by Tower Home — a scrollable home with:

  • a smart Continue card that drops you back into your last game,
  • a Daily Challenge card and streak,
  • themed shelves (mountain approaches, mega-hubs, islands & coast, world tour, carrier ops) instead of hunting a map,
  • per-level difficulty medals so you can see at a glance where you've earned your wings,
  • and a modernized Settings screen.

Plus shareable level links: share a level or your radar card and the link opens the app straight to that level for anyone who has it installed.

🛠️ Fixes & Polish

  • Resumed games keep spawning. A saved game resumed the next day no longer stops spawning partway through — your full traffic picture comes back.
  • Smarter terrain warnings. You now get a "low altitude" callout when you're heading toward rising terrain, not just when you're already on top of it.
  • Pinned arrival warnings stay on screen until you act on them, and stack cleanly when it's busy (tap to expand the full list).
  • No more accidental help pop-ups mid-command on smaller screens, and clearer labelled command buttons on phones.

💳 In-App Purchases

No changes. Your Full Game Unlock ($4.99) and any prior unlocks restore automatically on first launch. No new purchases, no subscriptions, no price changes.
