Reading the Radar
The radar scope is your office. Here is everything on it.
Aircraft
Each aircraft is a symbol with a data tag: callsign, altitude, and speed. Tap an aircraft to select it; a ring marks the selected aircraft and its command menu opens. Colors carry meaning:
- Normal traffic renders in the standard radar color.
- Red tag with 7700: an emergency. It needs priority handling.
- Amber tag with 7600: radio failure. It cannot hear you (see Emergencies and Weather).
- Dimmed traffic on live levels is scenery or another controller's traffic, not yours to work.
A short trail shows where each aircraft has been. While you drag a heading, a cyan aim line previews the turn the aircraft will fly.
The airspace picture
- Runways are drawn at true satellite geometry. The active runway (the one in use for the current wind) is highlighted when relevant, and a selected aircraft's destination runway lights up.
- Waypoints and fixes are the named points procedures and Direct To commands use.
- Terrain shows as contour lines with altitude labels, plus spot elevations in open country. Flying an aircraft into terrain ends badly: watch the numbers, especially at mountain airports.
- Distance rings give you range at a glance.
- Controlled airspace zones (for example Class B around big hubs) matter for helicopter operations: entering without clearance is a bust.
- Thunderstorm cells appear as storm shapes and drift with the wind. Keep traffic out of them.
Screen furniture
- Score, aircraft count, and the level goal sit at the top.
- Pending arrivals pin to a banner as they check in, so nothing sneaks in unnoticed. Tap a pin to dismiss it, or tap the overflow chip to see the full list. Issuing any command to an aircraft clears its pin.
- Ready for Departure banners on the left list departures waiting for your release.
- Wind indicator shows current direction. When the wind shifts enough to change the active runway, you get a warning: aircraft on approach to a retired runway need new instructions.
- The message feed shows radio calls, acknowledgements, and alerts such as terrain and storm warnings.
Controls
- Pinch to zoom, drag to pan. A one-tap sector overview button jumps back out to see the whole picture.
- Game speed: the 1x button cycles 1x, 2x, 4x, and 8x. Slow down when it gets busy, speed up the quiet stretches.
- Pause any time. Your game also saves automatically, so you can leave mid-shift and resume later.
- 3D view (base game owners): a full 3D camera on the same live traffic, including a tower view. Not available on live traffic levels.
- Share: captures the radar as a shareable card, with a link straight to the level.
- The ? button reopens the instructions for the current level type.
