Data Tags That Move Apart (Coming in 3.6.2)

Last updated 2026-10-17

Captured 2026-10-17 from a 3.6.2 beta build on iPad Pro 13-inch (M5), on the Detroit Metro (DTW) level.

Two changes to the radar's data tags, both from a player's suggestion on the board. The callsign on the top line of every tag is now white, so it reads as clearly as the rest of the tag against the map. And when two aircraft get close enough for their tags to touch, each tag moves to the side away from its neighbour, with a short white line back to its own aircraft.

A tag can sit in any of eight places around its aircraft. An aircraft on its own keeps its tag to the east, where it has always been, and a tag that moved returns there once its neighbour has gone. This was filmed at Detroit because its traffic crowds the tags quickly; the tags work the same way at every airport, Shenandoah Valley included.

What to look for in the clip:

  • 0:02 Zooming out from Detroit and back in. Watch the tags swing away from their neighbours as the aircraft crowd together on screen, then fold back to the east.
  • 0:46 A close look at one tag, with the white callsign on the top line.

Zoomed out, RJ121 and RJ560 are close enough for their tags to touch. RJ121's tag has moved to the west, with a short white line back to the aircraft.

Further out, more tags move. RJ121's tag now sits above its aircraft and GA389's to its west, each clear of its neighbour.

Zoomed back in, the tags are back to the east.

The callsign line is now white. Before, the Modern theme drew it in a grey blue that was hard to make out against the map.

Coming in 3.6.2. If the tags still get in your way anywhere, tell me on the board.
