Detroit Metro (3.4 Beta)

Last updated 2026-09-19

Captured 2026-09-19 from a 3.4 beta build on iPad Pro 13-inch. Detroit Metro is a new level on the Mega Hubs shelf in Tower Home, right after Charlotte.

Five airports in a 120 NM world. Detroit Metro has six runways: four parallels (4L, 4R, 3L and 3R with their 21 and 22 ends) and two crossing runways (9L/27R and 9R/27L). Willow Run and its freighters sit next door, Coleman Young is downtown, Windsor is across the river in Ontario, and Selfridge to the north flies fighters only. Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River and the western end of Lake Erie frame the picture.

Arrivals fly the published Detroit arrivals by name: HAYLL and VCTRZ from the west, KKISS and RKCTY from the northwest, CRAKN and HTROD from the south over Lake Erie, CUUGR and TPGUN from the east over Ontario. Departures fly CCOBB, CLVIN, HHOWE and MIGGY. Each strip shows the procedure and the runway it feeds. There are 83 real fixes and navaids on the map, so the airspace reads like the charts.

Helicopters get two real hospital rooftop pads, Mott Children's in Ann Arbor and Beaumont Royal Oak, and the survey flight circles Michigan Stadium.

Detroit Metro brief sheet

The brief. The map shows the fix network with the two lakes before you start.

Radar zoomed in at Detroit Metro

Zoomed in at DTW on the first spawn. All six centerlines with their numbers, the DXO VOR on the field, the Huron River to the west, and four inbounds already with you.

Radar zoomed out over the Detroit area

Zoomed out. All five airports, with Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie carved out of the map. Selfridge is up by the lake and Windsor is across the river.

Still being tuned during the beta: the pace at each difficulty, and how arrivals in the south flow are vectored. Those cross the field at 12,000 ft to a downwind north of the airport, exactly as charted.

Ships in 3.4.
