Radar Alerts (Coming in 3.6)

Last updated 2026-10-03

Captured 2026-10-02 from a 3.6 beta build on iPad Pro 13-inch (M5), on the New York live traffic (HANDOFF_NYC) level.

Radar alerts are coming in 3.6. When two aircraft are on course to lose separation, the radar draws an amber line between them, with the seconds left before they meet. It appears up to a minute ahead, enough time to turn one or change its level, and it clears itself once their paths no longer close.

The warning follows what each aircraft is actually doing: its heading and how fast it turns, its route and the turns at each fix, its climb or descent, and an approach down to the runway. Arrivals that turn apart at their next fix get no line.

On live traffic, a departure's data tag blinks when it is ready to hand off to Center, and keeps blinking until you hand it off. The live coach now waits for the first one and names it.

Both are on by default, at every difficulty, with one switch in Settings to turn them off. They stay out of story episodes, the Gauntlet, the oceanic board and the Academy.

What to look for in the clip:

  • 0:00 Two arrivals for JFK at the same height. The amber line appears and counts down: 25 seconds, then 15, then 5.
  • 0:16 EDV5394 (selected, so its symbol is yellow) has passed the boundary ring on its way out of New York. Its tag blinks until it is handed off.

New York live traffic. DAL490, one of yours, closes on DAL1579 at the same height on the way in to JFK, and the amber line gives 20 seconds. Nobody was flying in this capture, so they lost separation half a minute later: 0.8 NM apart and 3 ft apart in height.

The first time an alert appears, one card explains both cues. It shows once.
